On February 23, 2015 the FAA released new proposed rules for the use and operation of commercial sUAS. Under the proposed FAA regulations, an sUAS weighing 55 pounds or less may be operated legally by an operator who is 17 years or older and who has passed an initial aeronautical knowledge test and flies safely:
Under these new proposed guidelines an FAA airworthiness certification will not be required. Horizon Precision Systems is encouraged by the FAA’s proposed guidelines which will soon allow for substantial growth in commercial use. We are carefully watching as these new developments unfold.
